Big Piney Again!

We had such a great trip to Big Piney a couple weeks ago that we had to do it again. October 21, 2009 was our second trip of the year to Big Piney and was also our second successful trip to Big Piney. The day started off slow but picked up as the day went on. We both caught some good fish and then Marc caught what we thought was going to be the best Smallmouth of the day. I hooked into what was probably the biggest Rock Bass that I have ever caught. At first I thought it was a Smallmouth because it fought so hard. Then things kinda slowed down a bit, but as you know a bad day fishing is still better than a good day working. Anyway toward the end of the day we went back to the spot where we started at and thats where I caught what was to be the nicest catch of the day. I laid into a beautiful 17" Smallmouth. It didn't really start fighting until I had it up to the boat and thats when it tried to act up a bit. It turned out to be a very nice fish. So the record stands as such. The three biggest Smallmouth of my career have all come from Big Piney. The first one was in 2002 and now two really nice ones in 2009. Until next time...Peace out

Big Piney Bronzeback

Fishing trips like these are like hitting for the cycle in baseball, shooting the round of your life of golf, bowling a perfect 300, and eating my Mom's meatloaf. Well, maybe not quite that good, but pretty close. Yes, I did fall in the water and froze my butt off for 2 hours till the sun broke through, but it was well worth it. I yelled at Harper up the bank, " Come on in, the waters fine!" And yes, he did laugh at me, but I would of done the same thing. James was having kinda a rough go of things, and then just went on a terror. I think he caught everything in the river I didn't get to first. I learned him well. Haha. James lied in his posting, we didn't go to Rich's Last Resort, there aren't any fish there, the camping spots are $84 dollars a night, and the new owners are very inhospitable. And we didn't use 7 inch black Berkley Powerbaits. If you like catching the fattest, hardest fighting smallmouth you can imagine, don't go there. But whatever you do, always catch and release so I can catch 'em again. Until next time....

Rich's Last Resort 2009

What an awesome trip. Marc and I went down to Rich's Last Resort just outside Duke, MO. This was our second trip to Rich's. The first time was in 2002. We were unaware that Rich had sold out and was no longer there, but we had a chance to meet the new owner's Terry & Tracy Johnson. Who were more than great Host. The season was over and the place was basically shut down. Us coming and paying for a one night camping spot was obviously not big business for them but you wouldn't have known it by the way they treated us. I would recommend their resort to anyone.

During the 2002 trip to Rich's I caught what was to be the largest Smallmouth Bass I would catch until 2009. Where I can now report that I have caught The largest Smallmouth that I personally have ever seen. This beautiful specimen of a Bronze Back is my largest YET!

The trip as a whole was awesome. The first day Marc caught a extremely nice Smallmouth on the very first cast. We both caught some nice fish but as a whole the first day was just okay. We caught several Smallmouth and quite a few Rock Bass. At camp that night we had a pretty good dinner and hung out by the fire. The night was crazy cold, Down into the 40's. The next morning we were up before sunrise getting ready for the day.

Marc started the day off perfect when going to the boat he slipped and fell into the frigid waters. Between the 40+ degree weather and wet clothes he was as you might figure happy as a Lark. Actually we both a a good laugh. I being the one that laughed the most of course. As for fishing the day started out like most for he and I. Marc catching most of the fish while I get the be the camera guy. As the day wore on things didn't seem as though they would change much either. He caught a very nice 15 1/2 Smallmouth while I sat back getting a little frustrated. He say's Okay brother now it's your turn. He pointed out a specific Rock and says there's a fish right over there with your name on it. We moved that direction and after just a few cast I laid into the BIG one.

Then as he stated it was my turn. I commenced to just slay'em. I went on a roll. Awesome fish one after another. It was one of those times when it was as though I could do no wrong. There was obviously nothing I was doing any different from that moment than from the 7 hours before it. It was just as we say my turn, and I thank God it was. What a great time. Here I sit in our boat looking out at some of the most awesome scenery you'd ever want to see, hanging with my best Bro and catching what is for me, Epic Bronze Backs....Just doesn't get any better than that...Here are some pictures of our trip, hope you enjoy them...Peace Out

Mississippi River Blue

I went out on the Mississippi with my neighbor John, up near the Chain of Rocks Bridge, to see if we could find a few blues. John figured it was a good day, seeings how the water was low and clear. We put out about 25 jugs with cut bait and caught 4 blues, this picture being the biggest one. We figured he went 45-50 lbs. Beautiful fish! It was the first time I ever trot line fished so it was a really fun experience. Another awesome day on the water....till next time.

Another beautiful day!

James and I decided to start this site as to have a history of our fishing together and share it with our friends and families. Speaking for myself, these "adventures" are certainly one of the most enjoyable activities in my life. As the old saying goes, "a bad day fishing is better than any day working". Sept 16th was a picture perfect day weather wise and a pretty dang good day catching wise. James caught the most and I caught the biggest, a 15 1/2 inch bronzeback beauty. These smallmouth fight on ultra-lite like no other. Amazing creatures. They certainly keep me coming back for more. The only thing we take from these trips are memories, pictures and God's Blessings, always catch and release. Till next time....

The reason this site exist.

For Marc and I this is just a site where we can post our pictures and stories of our Fishing Adventures. We have been fishing in Missouri Creeks, Rivers and streams together for almost 10 years. During that time we have caught absolutely untold numbers of fish. Ranging from SmallMouth Bass, LargeMouth Bass, Rock Bass and Sunfish and probably some I have forgot. We have seen awesome landscapes, rock bluffs and beautiful waters. God has blessed us with the opportunity to spend an enormous amount of time together enjoying all nature has to offer. We have had an incredible time so far but for us it has only begun... James
